Jamie Carsello, Kelly Fluharty, and Karen Monsen join the board of directors of Stratis Health, a Bloomington-based nonprofit organization that leads collaboration and innovation in health care quality and safety, and serves as a trusted expert in facilitating improvement for people and communities.
Stratis Health welcomes their rich experience in care transformation, affordability, and access. All three new board members bring a wealth of knowledge about converting data into actionable impact for health care quality improvement and framing health care financing that will be valuable in guiding the organization’s strategic direction.
Jamie Carsello is vice president and chief informatics officer for UCare Minnesota. He has more than 20 years of experience in the health care economics field. His experience includes leading clinical, quality, provider, and financial analytics; data warehouse strategy and development; business intelligence development, pricing/actuarial, revenue and risk adjustment.
Kelly Fluharty, MPH, is care transformation manager for Winona Health Services. Ms. Fluharty contributes to the development and implementation of organizational payer strategy related to value-based contracts. She serves as project manager for its Medicare and Medicaid Accountable Care Organizations, and stewards multiple population health improvement initiatives, drawing on her extensive public health experience.
Karen Monsen, PhD, RN, FAMIA, FAAN, is a professor at the University of Minnesota School of Nursing where she leads the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Nursing Informatics specialty and directs the Center for Nursing Informatics. Dr. Monsen is an internationally known expert in nursing informatics and intervention effectiveness research. She leads the practice-based research network, the Omaha System Community of Practice.
The new board members’ three-year terms of service run January 2020 through December 2022. They replace outgoing board members Connie Delaney, Myron Falken, Beth Monsrud, and Gary Wingrove. The Stratis Health Board of Directors includes diverse representation of physician and nurse leadership, health system and health plan leadership, business sector expertise, academic and research representation, and consumer perspectives.
