Culture Care Connection

A young Muslim mother wearing a hijab takes her toddler daughter to a medical consultation. The girl is also wearing a hijab and is sitting on her mother's lap. They are seated at a table and a male doctor is seated across from them. The child is diabetic and the doctor is explaining how to use an insulin pen.

Culture Care Connection (CCC) is an online learning and resource center that supports clinical and non-clinical health care professionals in reducing health disparities and promoting health equity.

Actions

  • Offer Implicit Bias Quiz to assist health professionals in discovering more about implicit bias and learning what they can do to help correct bias and provide the best health care possible. Co-designed and co-led implicit bias training for a large integrated health care delivery system.
  • Provide access to Diversity Information Sheets (currently representing 19 different cultural communities) that provide education about the background, religious and cultural beliefs, communication preferences, and common health issues of ethnically and culturally diverse patients and their families.
  • Share language resources for Minnesota Health Care Providers (UCare and HealthPartners curated this collection of tools) to help the Minnesota health care community better communicate with individuals and families who speak a language other than English.
